Last year, I sewed slipcovers for my couch's throw pillows to give the room a cheery update.
Around this time each year, I start getting antsy for spring. I want to clear out clutter and re-organize my closets and sew slipcovers for my throw pillows and buy a new comforter. The beginning of a new season always seems like a good time for drastic changes. Or tiny changes, if you’re timid. Every step counts.
In the past few issues of Smart magazine, organizing and home-decorating experts have shared their tips and tricks for getting your home in tip-top shape. Here are some of the highlights:
- Control your pantry pandemonium with ideas from a Dallastown woman in the March/April issue. (And submit your own information to be featured in an upcoming article!)
- Incorporate all five senses in choosing accent pieces for your home. I’m loving the bright colors that are trending. (And read a behind-the-scenes take on how that article came together.)
- Adapt your wild renovation dreams for a rental space without angering your landlord or breaking the budget. (And find a few more real-life examples.)
- Transform your basement into party central in January/February’s Smart Spaces feature.
- Try a new trend in wallpaper — 3-D or glitter effects, anyone?
So take some time and brainstorm what you’d want to change in your home. Whether you plan a giant, multi-weekend project or a quick revamping of one room, share your before and after photos with us on the Smart magazine Facebook page. We’d love to see what hands-on projects you get into as winter transitions into spring!
As the cold sets in and that couch calls your name, Smart magazine encourages you to enjoy winter for all it offers. From outdoor activities like skiing and hiking to cozy indoor ideas like making your own hot cocoa, we’ll offer a tip each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through March.
